He encountered the Seventh Karmapa again when he was a young man and received a wide range of instructions from him, which he was said to have thoroughly mastered and experienced numerous visions of buddhas whilein extended retreat. He went on to become a prominent teacher of the Kagyu tradition, especially at Zurmang Monastery.
