Biographical Information
Holmes Welch (d. 1981) taught at Harvard University, where he became a lecturer in Chinese studies. His contributions to Buddhist studies include a trilogy on Buddhism in China: The Practice of Chinese Buddhism, 1900– 1950 (1967), The Buddhist Revival in China (1968), and Buddhism Under Mao (1972), all published by Harvard University Press.
