His books include ''Attention, Not Self'' (Oxford University Press, 2017); ''The Self: Naturalism, Consciousness, and the First-Person Stance'' (Oxford University Press, 2012); ''The Lost Age of Reason: Philosophy in Early Modern India 1450–1700'' (Oxford University Press, 2011); ''The Concealed Art of the Soul'' (Oxford University Press, 2007); and ''Philosophy in Classical India: The Proper Work of Reason'' (Routledge, 2001). He is a Fellow of the British Academy, and laureate of the Infosys Prize in the Humanities 2015. He has been named by Open Magazine one of India's "50 Open Minds" in 2016.
