Rudolf Otto Franke (born June 24, 1862 in Wickerode ; † February 5, 1928 in Königsberg ) was a German Indologist .

Franke initially attended elementary school in Questenberg for four years and from there moved to the Latina in Halle, an der Saale , after which, after graduating from high school there, he studied classical , German and Indian philology at the universities of Göttingen and Bonn . In 1885 he received his doctorate in Göttingen and his habilitation in Berlin in 1890. He then became a private lecturer there .
