Biographical Information

Ryan has been studying Tibetan since 1998. After 8 years of study in India and Nepal, both privately and as a student and teacher at the Rangjung Yeshe Institute, he returned to the US in 2007 to begin graduate studies. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Sanskrit and Buddhist Studies at UC Berkeley. He has been a member of the Dharmachakra Translation Committee since its inception in 2005, and is co-director of the Dharmachakra Translation Center at Rangjung Yeshe Gomde California, where he also serves as Director of Education. He has translated The Mahamaya Tantra (sgyu ‘phrul chen po’i rgyud), Rantakarashanti’s commentary on that, as well as the Gunavatitika (yon tan ldan pa).
