Balangada Ananda Maitreya Thero was born in 24 August, 1896, and died in 18 July, 1998, at the age of 101. Balanaga Ananda was a Sri-Lankan scholar monk, a personality of Theravada Buddhism in the twentieth century.
Balangada Ananda Maitreya Thero writted around fifty books in Sūtra, Vinaya and Abhidharma in Pāli and Sanskrit. Some of his work are: The Dhammapada: The Path of Truth, Meditation on breathing, Easy steps to English, Life of the Buddha, Bhavana Deepaniya, Sambodhi Prarthana, A Hand Book of Spoken English, Dhamsabhava, Sathara Paramarthaya, Buddha Dharmaya, Vidharshana Bhavanava, Meditation Sur La Respiration, Maithree Bhavanava, Anaphana Sathi Bhavanava, Shamatha Bhavanava and Udanaya.
