Biographical Information

Śākyarakṣita was an Indian author and translator active in the late 11th and mid-twelfth century. His guru was Abhayakaragupta, who was abbot of the monastic university Vikramaśīla during the reign of King Ramapala (c. 1084–1126/1130). He is the author of Abhisamayamanjari (Flower Cluster of Clear Understanding) in the Guhyasamayasadhanamald (English, Vajrayogini, 2002, 10–11) and one of the translators of the Saddharmasmṛtyupasthānasūtra.
