Biographical Information
Palmyr Uldéric Alexis Cordier (1871–1914) was a French physician and Indologist and an early specialist of the Āyurveda. Born in a modest family, he was educated in Besançon. He studied medicine in Toulon and Bordeaux, at Marine medical school. He became friends with Liétard and began the study of Sanskrit. Cordier obtained a good command of Sanskrit and, in order to read medical works lost in the original, learned also Tibetan. (Adapted from Source Dec 19, 2023)
