He is perhaps best known for his retranslation of the ''Saddharmapuṇḍarīkasūtra'' ("Lotus Sūtra"), which included portions of the scripture that did not appear in Kumārajīva's pioneering translation made two centuries before, especially the important "Chapter on Devadatta." He also translated the ''Adhyāśayasañcodana'', the ''Vimalakīrtinirdeśa'', the ''Abhiniṣkramaṇasūtra'' (a possible translation of the ''Mahāvastu''), and several dhāraṇī sūtras.
