bio	Erick Tsiknopoulos is widely recognized as one of the world’s foremost experts on Tibetan language, Tibetan Buddhism, and Tibetan-English translation. He is one of the most proficient translators of Tibetan literature into English, having a broad and comprehensive knowledge of Classical, Colloquial and Modern Literary Tibetan; as well as an in-depth and detailed understanding of Tibetan Buddhism and culture. He is also one of the most prolific translators, having translated several hundred Tibetan texts into English. Originally from the United States, he studied Tibetan language and Buddhism intensively in the Himalayan region of North India and Nepal, where he lived for 11 years (2008-2019). He has also spent significant time in various other Asian and European countries, such as Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Bulgaria, Greece and Romania, and has visited several other countries. He has practiced Buddhism since 1999, studied Tibetan language since 2004, and translated & interpreted Tibetan professionally since 2008. He is the founder and director of the Trikāya Translation Committee (see Meet the Team), Trikāya Translation Services (see Translation Services), and the Trikāya Tibetan Language Academy (see Tibetan Courses). He is the primary translator of the hundreds of translated Tibetan texts available free to the public in the Trikāya Dharma Treasury on this website (see Library of Translations).
