bio | Ngawang Tenzin Chökyi Gyaltsen (Wyl. ngag dbang bstan 'dzin chos kyi rgyal mtshan) aka the 11th Dzatrul Rinpoche was recognized by Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö, Karmapa Rangjung Rigpé Dorje and Trulshik Rinpoche as an incarnation of Ngawang Tenzin Norbu, a main master of the Mount Everest region and the root teacher of Trulshik Rinpoche. His predecessor was based in Rongpuk Monastery, on the northern slopes of Mount Everest.
Dzatrul Rinpoche received most of his education at Mindroling Monastery. There he studied with many masters but especially with Mewa Khenpo Tupten Özer, his root guru. He also received empowerments and nyingtik transmissions from Dudjom Rinpoche, as well as instructions on Shantideva’s Bodhicharyavatara and Dzogchen from Khunu Lama Tenzin Gyaltsen. Dzatrul Rinpoche resides in Swayambhu, Nepal, where in 1983 he established a Tibetan Buddhist monastery, Shri Do Ngag Chöling. (Source: Rigpa Wiki) |
