From 1990 to 1993 she was Assistant Professor for Hinduism and Buddhism at the Department of Asian Studies, University of British Columbia. From 1993 to 1999 she was research assistant C1 at the Institute for Culture and History of India and Tibet in Hamburg. She has been a professor of Indology since 1999 at the University in Vienna.
