|bio=[Nicole Martinez-Melis was] born in Morocco in 1951 to second and third generation Spanish immigrant parents where she spent her childhood in a multicultural context. At the age of 10 her family settled in the city of Arles in France.

1975. After her studies at the University Paul Valéry of Montpellier (Licence ès Lettres d'enseignement and Maîtrise,) moves to Barcelona as a conversation assistant scholar.
1976. Starts teaching at the University School of Translation and Interpretation (EUTI) in the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
1980. Degree in Philosophy and Literature (UAB).

2001. Doctoral thesis under the direction of Dr. Amparo Hurtado Albir ("Evaluation et didactics of translation: le cas de la traduction dans la langue étrangère").
2002. Associate Professor of the University (Faculty of Translation and Interpretation, UAB).
 
Her teaching activity has focused on translation, and as a researcher she has devoted herself [to] teaching translation for many years. She has been a founding member of the PACTE research group of the Department of Translation and Interpretation. In the last few years it has been dedicated to the translation of the texts and terminology of Buddhist philosophy; she is a principal researcher of the TRAFIL research group.
