Having begun learning Sanskrit in 1975, in his native Poland, Wiesiek continued at the School of African and Oriental Studies, University of London. From 2004 to 2010, he taught Sanskrit at Rangjung Yeshe Institute (University of Kathmandu) in Nepal, where he has lived since 2005.
