Other Information

Thanissaro Bhikkhu (Geoffrey DeGraff) began practicing meditation with his teacher, Ajaan Fuang Jotiko -- a member of the Thai forest tradition -- in 1974; ordained in 1976; and continued studying with Ajaan Fuang until the latter's death in 1986. In 1991 he came to southern California to help set up Metta Forest Monastery in the mountains of north San Diego county. He was made abbot of the monastery in 1993. In addition to teaching at the monastery, he teaches regularly with the John Wayne Dhamma Center in Orange County, and the Barre Center of Buddhist Studies in Massachusetts.

Ajaan Geoff, as he is known by his students, is the author of The Mind Like Fire Unbound, The Buddhist Monastic Code, and The Wings to Awakening. He is also translator of a number of Thai meditation guides, including the complete writings of Ajaan Fuang's teacher, Ajaan Lee Dhammadharo. Most of his writings and translations are freely available on the WorldWideWeb at Access to Insight: http://world.std.com/~metta/
