bio	Michael M. Broido (Ph.D., Cambridge University, 1967) is Senior Research Fellow in Linguistics at Magdalen College, University of Oxford. His research has included work on Tibetan interpretations of Madhyamaka and Vajrayana thought, especially in relation to their Indian prototypes. Along with Yogācāra, it is one of the two major philosophical schools of Mahāyāna Buddhism. Founded by Nāgārjuna around the second century CE, it is rooted in the Prajñāpāramitā Sūtras, though its initial exposition was presented in Nāgārjuna's Mūlamadhyamakakārikā.
