Biographical Information
Teaching and Scholarly Interests
Professor Zablocki teaches courses on Buddhism and other Asian religions, as well as the anthropology of religion, religion and theory, and Asian studies (with particular attention to Tibet and South Asia). His research focuses on contemporary globalization of Buddhism and on the transnational transformation of Tibetan religion, culture, and politics.
Professional Activities
Professor Zablocki's essay "The Taiwanese Connection: Politics, Piety, and Patronage in Transnational Tibetan Buddhism" appears in Buddhism Between Tibet and China, Matthew Kapstein, ed. (Wisdom Publications, 2009). He also co-edited (with Nalini Bhushan and Jay Garfield) TransBuddhism: Transmission, Translation and Transformation (University of Massachusetts Press, 2009); he co-authored the Introduction (with Bhushan) and contributed a chapter entitled "Transnational Tulkus: The Globalization of Tibetan Buddhist Reincarnation."
