bio	Joe Bransford Wilson is Associate Professor of Asian Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Joe Bransford Wilson is Associate Professor of Asian Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He is the author of Translating Buddhism from Tibetan, as well as number of articles dealing with Indian and Tibetan Buddhist philosophy. His current research focuses on Yogācāra in Tibet and historiographic issues underlying Buddhist histories of philosophy.

Along with Madhyamaka, it was one of the two major philosophical schools of Mahāyāna Buddhism. Founded by Asaṅga and Vasubandhu around the fourth century CE, many of its central tenets have roots in the Saṃdhinirmocanasūtra and the so-called third turning of the dharma wheel (see tridharmacakrapravartana).
