bio Hari Mohan Vidyabhushana was a Calcutta-based pandit working in the circle of Sarat Chandra Das and the Buddhist Text Society of India in the late 19th century.
  • He co-edited the Avadānakalpalatā of Kṣemendra with Sarat Chandra Das (Asiatic Society, 1888–1918), a major Sanskrit/Tibetan parallel-text edition based on a Lhasa xylograph and Nepalese manuscripts.
  • He co-edited the Samādhirājasūtram with Das in 1896 for the Buddhist Text Society of India.
  • His title "Pandit" (as he's listed on the Avadānakalpalatā title page) indicates he was a traditionally trained Sanskrit scholar rather than a university-educated academic.

He is distinct from the better-known Satish Chandra Vidyabhushana (1870–1920) — the two are sometimes confused because both worked with Sarat Chandra Das and the Buddhist Text Society. Satish Chandra was the assistant editor of the society and co-prepared the Tibetan-English dictionary; Hari Mohan was an earlier collaborator on the textual editing side. (Source: Claude.ai)
