bio	Alexander Studholme received his Ph.D. from the Centre for Buddhist Studies, University of Bristol, England. He is the author of The Origins of Oṃ Maṇipadme Hūṃ: A Study of the Kāraṇḍavyūha Sūtra (SUNY Press, 2002), a study of the earliest textual source for the mantra oṃ maṇipadme hūṃ, which situates the Kāraṇḍavyūha Sūtra in relation to Purāṇic and Śaivite religious currents in early medieval India. He has lectured on Indian religions in the Divinity Faculty at Cambridge University.
