bio	Roland Steiner is an Honorary Professor of Indology (Indologie und Tibetologie) at Philipps-Universität Marburg. His research centers on Sanskrit and Prakrit language and literature, Sanskrit philology, and Buddhist studies, with particular expertise in the poet Aśvaghoṣa and the Buddhacarita, Indian dramatic literature, and the Mokṣopāya (a Kashmiri philosophical text also known in its vulgate form as the Yogavāsiṣṭha), on which he has worked extensively as part of the long-running Mokṣopāya research project. He served for many years as speaker of the Indological section of the Deutsche Morgenländische Gesellschaft (DMG) and later as the society's Schriftleiter (editor), overseeing its publication series, including the Zeitschrift der Deutschen Morgenländischen Gesellschaft (ZDMG) and the Abhandlungen für die Kunde des Morgenlandes (AKM). He is also co-editor of the Marburg series Indica et Tibetica and Indologica Marpurgensia.
