bio | Émile Charles Marie Senart (26 March 1847 – 21 February 1928) was a French Indologist.[1]
Besides numerous epigraphic works, we owe him several translations in French of Buddhist and Hindu texts, including several Upaniṣad. He was Paul Pelliot's professor at the Collège de France. He was elected a member of the Académie des inscriptions et belles-lettres in 1882, president of the Société asiatique from 1908 to 1928 and founder of the "Association française des amis de l'Orient" in 1920.
