Biographical Information

Jens W. Borgland is a historian of religion, philologist and Sanskrit critic, with a broad interest in Indian religion, philosophy and language. His scientific activity mainly deals with illuminating the history of Indian religion - with a special focus on Indian Buddhism - through philological studies of sources in Sanskrit, Pali, Tibetan and Chinese. He is particularly interested in Buddhist monastic rules (vinaya) and Sanskrit manuscripts of texts belonging to the Mūlasarvāstivāda school. (Source Accessed Sep 10, 2021)
