| bio | Baogui (寶貴) was a prominent Chinese Buddhist monk and scholar-translator of the Sui dynasty (581–618 CE). He is most celebrated for his compilation and editing of the Hebu Jinguangming jing (《合部金光明經》 or Composite Sutra of Golden Light) completed in 597 CE. Working at the Daxingshan Monastery (大興善寺) in Chang'an, Baogui synthesized the disparate, earlier translations of the Suvarṇaprabhāsottamasūtra. |
