- Person description or short bio
- [Gyurme Tsewang Chokdrup was the] reembodiment of KaH-thog Spyan-snga Byams-pa-'bum. [He was] recognized as the reembodiment of Klong-gsal-snying-po's nephew Tshe-dbang-'phrin-las by Dri-med-zhing-skyong 1 and Rdzogs-chen-pa Dbon Padma-kun-grol. [He] became the mchod yon of the Sa-skyong Sde-dge and [was] involved in the carving of the Rnying ma rgyud 'bum, [the] gsung 'bum of 'Jigs-med-gling-pa, and of Klong-chen Rab-'byams-pa. [He] instituted the sgrub mchod connected with the Bka' ma. [He is also believed to have] carried the funeral offerings of the Dri-med-zhing-skyong to Lhasa and [to have] met the 8th Dalai Lama who was in retreat. [He] founded Dge-rtse Bkra-legs Dgon-pa with a thousand monks. This was in the Byang-phyogs. [He] spread the KaH-thog tradition in 'Gu-log, Rgyal-rong, Nyang-rong, Bzhag-sar, etc., and restored many Rnying-ma-pa monasteries. Mongol and other rulers in the neighborhood much respected him. [He] buil[t] at KaH-thog the Gtsug-lag-khang Khams-gsum-zil-gnon, the sku-gdung Gangs-ri'i Rgyan-cig of Dri-med-zhing-skyong, the sku-gdung of Phyag-tsha Nges-don, the Kun-gzigs Sgrol-ma Lha-khang and the Sog-li Thub-sku stong gi lha-khang, etc. Lcang-skya Rol-pa'i-rdo-rje sent him many gifts including gos-thang of Gu-ru Padmasambhava.
